I am an artist with a monastic dedication to studying scripture and oil painting. I have a Communications Studies major and a Fine Art minor from Western Kentucky University studying oil painting under Yvonne Petkus. I’ve also enjoyed studying privately in Italy and under artists Miguel Carter-Fisher, and Miles Hall. One of the greatest joys of my life is painting! It is a meditative practice for me to imagine, draw, and then dwell in the composition to create a place where the viewer can engage and hopefully enter. I often like to evoke emotion through palette choices. While I consider myself a representational figure painter and a landscape painter, I appreciate the idea within iconography that an image can open a window that a person may gaze through to see something beautiful and sacred. I hope to push against hyperindividualism by creating art where there can be shared meaning. I love to paint the human figure occupying a space to provide a visual liturgy and a window into eternal truths. I tend to take artistic liberties with color and texture. My process begins with studying, drawing, writing, and a thorough underpainting. Finally, as I paint, I am dealing with the mystery of the space I am creating with many thin layers.
